Reflecting

It was a month ago today we had left for ca.We were gone 24 days. Was a bit too long but we werre in Ca for10 days. Hopefully next time it wont be as marathon like. We saw a lot travelled almost 8 thousand miles all together, Time on the road about 8 hours a day and we had a timer to set as we would stop every hour and walk around. Stopped at the continental divide that was great. Saw all different kinds of plants and terrains. Spectacular mountains. Nothing in NYS can compare to that!

Learned a Lot

Well we learned a lot about travelling, about the country, about people, and about food. I think one of the most depressing sights was that of migrant farm workers. School buses full of them with port o sans on the back of them on flatbed trucks. Their liing conditions were not that great. There were large groups of singlewides PACKED with campers too not more than 6 feet apart where these people lived. The kind of camper that you put on the back of a truck.

There is so much open space. This country is huge.

We had quite the adventure in eating.  The BEST was the Stinking Rose as we are garlic aficionados.

I still feel like I am driving so hopefully this can be turned around relatively soon. Then we have to get ready for our trip in the fall.

So much

So much driving so many miles. Wyoming was the worst for some reason. It feels like a marathon. I give my husband credit though as he is doing ALL of the driing. I do not pass semis and driving fast is just not what I do. We made it to Chicago in 4 days. People are crazy driers in Chicago. YES there were back ups but the weirdest thing is that when you cross into the city there is a sign that tells you how many parking spaces are left.
We had a lovely dinner with Pauls cousin Cecelia and we walked around in the lovely serene neighborhood and saw the wonderful creations of Frank Lloyd Wright, Absolutely great. Today the museum of Science and Industry and then off to Michigan to  visit Aunt Bernie.
