Trip Back Day 1

Well day1 went well. There was some snow as we passed over the Sierra Nevadas but no chains required. We drove to Elko Nevada. We had stayed here on the way out. Its a gambling town for ranchers. They have a mud scraper outside the hotel as they come in full of mud.. They go gambling it seems at the local establishments. Now 602 am NY tiime and I am awake.300am pacific time as well. If I were home it wouldnt be a problem. I hope we can make good time on the way back. As we know now what we can expect.. Today day 2.  Probably go into Wyoming today.Yesterday we saw a spectacular rainbow I took pics wish I had remembered the better lens but hopefully it will be good.It has been an interesting journey with food across the nation. California is the best for all kindds of food. I did enjoy the Thai the most.

Friday 5-27

Well I had hoped to do more and see more. I realize that I seemto overplan. To visit and sight see is adifficult thing. We hae had a wonderful time here to effectively visit we need to be here for more time. But we have to leave on Sunday. I hope it does not snow in the Sierra Nevadas again. But it is what it is. I am looking forward to seeing the dogs and cats. So much rain back east they have not been able to mow. I am looking forward to visiting back east and getting down to NYC hopefully in the not too distant future. After this drive it should be a piece of cake. Fist though we have to do this drive. I had hoped to do more visiting and site seeing but it doesnt look like we can get as much as we hoped for done.Today we are going to look  at Bridal gowns with Elizabeth. Ill take pictures

So much to see

It has been a veritable sensory explosion. Between seeing all new things and the food and the air and weather it has taken time to process it all. I was wondering why I felt so sad yesterday and I realize it is a one year anniversary of my mothers passing. The upside of it is we went to the beach yesterday and knowing how much my mother loved the sea I really felt better after going to the beach. It was a wonderful time exploring the shoreline and wading. Did not go in as there were detailed instructions as to how to escape the rip tide. The water was colder than anything on the Atlantic. The reason why is that it is fed by the melting ice. San Mateo is a lovely area. But it has been colder than usual as per Francisco.Electronics are amazing as we are doing work while we are on the road. James and Rose and Erik are safely back in NY.

An incredible day

Well yesterday was an action packed extremely exciting day. We started off with Elizabeth's graduation from The University of San Fransisco. Rose and Eriks luggage was lost so they needed to get emergency clothes. (The luggage was returned yesterday too thank goodness) Then we went to pier 39 and had a lovely lunch at a pizza place on the pier. We browsed several of the shops, Took a gander at Alcatraz through the binoculars and then saw sea lions. and then went to the Ripleys Believe it of Not Museum. The museum was quite fun. Then we had coffee to jog us on to get back to the car. Then we went to "Crustaceans" a Vietnamese retaurant that had great garlic crabs.I dont usually eat crabs but these were excellent. Lovely roasted vegetables and some very nice Riesling wine, and garlic noodles. A wonderful end to the day.

Day 5

We are in Sacramento for the night. Tomorrow we reach our goal. Thank you dear friends and family for your encouragement and support for our first cross country trip. This is truly an amazing country. Our return trip we will get to see more of this country this magnificent and miraculous and beautiful country that God has given us. We made this trip for the graduation AND engagement of Elizabeth.  What a joyous wonderful year this is. We are truly blessed

@ least a foot of snow

Nostalgia

I forget what day it is day 4??

Well it does seem to all blur together a bit. I guess the longest drive was across the salt flats. It was fascinating to see the Morton  salt mine. So  much land. The great salt lake was very interesting as it looked like ice but was salt crystals. I still have to clean my shoes off  The mountains are tremendous. Today we hope to make  it to Sacramento. I think the most disturbing sights I saw was the trailer parks an the camper parks. Where people were living in their campers. Also trailer parks where people were living in really old trailers packed very tightly together they could not be any more than 6 feet apart.
